Beyond managing Ras-I, McIntosh-Smith served as Director of Education at the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA), contributing to music business education, artiste development and the growth of industry professionals.
Remembering her beyond her professional achievements, the family shared: “To us, Apryl was a cherished wife, mother, relative and friend. While her professional contributions touched many lives, we also mourn the everyday moments, laughter, love and presence that made her so deeply important to our family.”
The family also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming condolences, prayers and tributes received from friends, colleagues, artistes, her alma mater, St. Andrew High School for Girls, and the wider music community.
Reggae artiste Ras-I also paid an emotional tribute to his late manager on Instagram, reflecting on their close personal and professional bond. “Still can’t believe this is real. You had so much more to offer this world. A mother, a protector and a big sister in one. We laughed, we fussed and then we figured it out as a team and above all as a family,” he wrote. He later added, “Cyan be sadness forever Jah.”
A memorial service celebrating McIntosh-Smith’s life is being planned for early December, with further details to be announced once arrangements are confirmed.
