Emerging Artiste Teknekal Blends 9-5 Struggles with Deep Message on 'Smart Dollaz'

Inspired by real-life struggles, rising artiste Teknekal drops the hustler’s anthem “Smart Dollaz.” Working with the renowned Frenz 4 Real studio, Sharon Burke’s Island Music Conference, and Spexdaboss, he aims to motivate through music: “I want listeners to feel motivated to tackle life’s journey without failure or excuse.”

Working closely with Tower Hill’s renowned Frenz 4 Real studio, emerging artiste Teknekal is building a sound rooted in authenticity, clarity, and purpose. Surrounded by seasoned producers like Benji, Josh, and Redboom, and immersed in the professional energy of the Island Music Conference, where he draws guidance from industry powerhouses Sharon Burke and Judith Bodley, Teknekal is laying the foundation for a promising musical journey.

Setting the tone for his upcoming New Age EP, Teknekal speaks on the project’s lead single “Smart Dollaz”, a motivational track that promotes financial discipline and business ownership. Crafted to connect with young hustlers and 9-to-5 workers alike, the song pairs clean, uplifting melodies with a sharp message: “If you don’t have a business, you don’t have a chance.”

“Smart Dollaz” blends message and melody with intention. “The inspiration came to me after hearing the struggles of men in today's society… That's when the chorus came to me: ‘Work smart for your dollaz, save it up my brothers cah spend it pan dem gal ya,’” Teknekal explained. “The song is centered around the construction and business industry… I strongly believe every young person should own a business. ‘If you don't have a business you don't have a chance.’”

Sonically, Teknekal describes the song as an “action thriller in the realms of music” with a fresh melodic concept that functions like “mind therapy.” “It will captivate your mind and put you in a relaxing and focused state… a breath of fresh air to the industry,” he added.

For the production, Teknekal teamed up with the Frenz 4 Real team, Benji, Josh, and Redboom. “Big shout to Benji, Josh, and Redboom from Frenz 4 Real. I also worked with Jollywood Productions,” he said.

With the support of the Frenz 4 Real crew, Teknekal taps into his creative instincts to know when a song feels complete. “A song can never truly be completed,” he explained. “But when it reaches post-production and you can listen to it until you get lost in it—that’s an indication that it’s ready. The melodies have to be sweet as honey and compelling as a woman.”

At its core, “Smart Dollaz” is more than a single—it’s a mindset. “I hope listeners take the message of being an entrepreneur seriously. I’m encouraging all individuals with high ambitions to start a business. A registered business is vital to your financial survival, especially if you’re working a 9-5,” he urged. “I want listeners to feel motivated to tackle life’s journey without failure or excuse… to feel exclusive and of the highest order.”

Looking ahead, Teknekal is gearing up to release his New Age EP, along with more motivational tracks that continue his message-driven approach. Two singles already in the pipeline include “Sumting Bout The Cazal”, a collaboration with Frenz 4 Real, the Island Music Conference, and Canada’s Reggae Ambassador Spexdaboss, and “Billions”, which will appear on the Upright Riddim in partnership with Upright Boss.
