Popular Jamaican dancehall producer DJ Mac has officially released his debut album "Ups & Down" on Thursday, June 5. Originally planned as a 10-track EP for April, the project evolved into a 13-track album, showcasing a strong mix of veterans and rising stars.
The album features standout tracks like Chronic Law’s “Lust,” Tommy Lee Sparta’s “Look,” Govana’s “Siance,” and Skippa’s “Mood Swing.” A powerful trio collaboration between Valiant, Kranium, and Nigy Boy titled “Vancleef” also makes the cut, along with previously released singles such as Shenseea’s “V.I.P,” Skillibeng’s “So Bad,” and “Uptown” by Chronic Law and Valiant. “The Therapist” pairs Chronic Law with Ai Milly.
On the softer side, Christopher Martin delivers the smooth “Mind of Your Own,” while D’Yani brings sensual energy with “Turning Me On.”
DJ Mac also highlights fresh talent, including Tielo Lanez on “Selah” and Jquan—who first rose to prominence with “Chakka”—now voicing the project’s title track, “Ups & Downs.”
“V.I.P,” recorded last year in Miami with renowned producer Supa Dups, sets the tone for what DJ Mac calls a milestone moment. “This project is evidence of hard work and growth,” said Mac, whose real name is Jason McDowell. “But it’s only the beginning—we’re aiming even higher.”
Known for his viral juggling productions like Chakka Riddim, Fiesta Riddim, and Down Riddim, DJ Mac’s Ups & Down cements his place among dancehall’s most versatile new-gen producers.
