A Golden July: Another Historic Chapter for Vybz Kartel

The Worl' Boss celebrated his first-ever UK Gold certification with “Fever,” surpassed 150 million Spotify streams, reunited with Mavado for the historic Gaza vs. Gully spectacle at Reggae Sumfest, and announced their blockbuster O2 Arena debut in London - another milestone-filled run that makes him Kaboom Magazine's Artiste of the Month for July.

As summer arrived, Vybz Kartel once again proved why he remains the undisputed King of Dancehall, delivering another historic month filled with career milestones.

The month began with a defining achievement as Kartel earned his first-ever UK Gold certification for the timeless hit “Fever,” exactly 10 years after its original release, an accomplishment that ranks among the most significant in dancehall history. Shortly afterward, the song surpassed 150 million streams on Spotify, further cementing its status as one of the genre's modern classics.

Kartel's momentum continued later in July when the Worl' Boss headlined Reggae Sumfest alongside his longtime rival-turned-friend Mavado for the historic Gaza vs. Gully reunion. Both deejays drew more than 35,000 fans to Plantation Cove, delivering one of the festival's defining moments while helping set a new attendance record. The performance also laid the foundation for another milestone, as the two later announced they would take the legendary rivalry overseas for the first time, headlining London's O2 Arena on September 9 before bringing Gaza vs. Gully to Malta days later.

Although his sold-out Reggae Land performance before more than 60,000 fans came in early August, Kartel had already built enough momentum in July to make it a remarkable month.

His remarkable run earns him Kaboom Magazine's Artiste of the Month, edging out strong competition from reggae icon Buju Banton, whose Too Too Bad debuted on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, and fast-rising dancehall star Skippa, who dominated Jamaica's streaming charts with hits including “Glocks and Chips,” “Detox,” and several other tracks.
