As American record producer DJ Khaled readies his next album Aalam Of God, he’s kicking off the rollout with a massive dancehall collaboration.
His long-anticipated single “You Remind Me,” featuring Jamaican powerhouses Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer, Buju Banton, and Mavado, is set for release on Thursday, August 28. The Grammy-winning hitmaker officially announced the track via social media on Wednesday, building anticipation for what’s being hailed as a historic link-up. The Grammy-winning producer officially announced the release via his social media on Wednesday.
Produced by Khaled himself, with contributions from Haitian multi-genre producer Kaylan Arnold and Jamaica’s own Rory Stonelove, the single was recorded at Khaled’s We The Best Studios in Miami. Each artist brings his distinctive energy and lyrical firepower, with the track marking the first time longtime rivals Vybz Kartel and Mavado appear on the same song in years.
The accompanying music video, also shot in Miami, brought the icons together for a dynamic day of visuals, capturing the magnitude of this once-in-a-generation collaboration.
“We going give a gift to the world and put some of the biggest dancehall giants on one chune. This for unity. This is a blessing for music to see some of our biggest dancehall icons on one anthem together. Let’s set the tone off like this before I just start flinging so many chunes pon dem head,” he wrote in a social media post.
Khaled’s love affair with Jamaican music is well documented. From voicing dubplates and frequenting local parties during visits to the island, to collaborating with reggae and dancehall greats, he has consistently embraced and amplified the culture. This isn’t his first genre-spanning effort either—previous projects like “Holy Mountain” (2019), “Where You Come From” (2021), and “These Streets Know My Name” (2022) have all spotlighted Caribbean artists.
“You Remind Me” continues that tradition, blending global star power with authentic dancehall grit in a way only DJ Khaled can deliver.
