Mohbad, His sudden death stirs up Nigeria
The music industry in Nigeria is in turmoil following the sudden death of local singer Mohbad on September 12th. Thousands of people including Afrobeat superstar, Davido trooped out to show love for the late singer in Lagos, on his candlelight procession calling for "justice for Mohbad", who was also popularly known by the nickname of 'Imole'.
Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, succumbed to an illness in a Lagos hospital a week ago, sparking widespread speculation about the circumstances surrounding his death. While the death circumstances are still unclear, his body was taken by the Lagos Police for autopsy.
Mohbad was very popular among the streets of Lagos and his fans are allegedly throwing accusations against his former label owners, singer Naira Marley and his close friend-partner Sam Larry as being responsible for the death.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, had earlier announced her intention to investigate the circumstances of Mohbad's death in response to suspicions surrounding the singer's death.
Ojo also stressed that if Naira Marley, Larry among others accused of involvement in the late singer's death do not surrender, the police will declare them wanted.
According to her, "For the investigations, they (the police) said that apart from the two people we are talking about, several other names were given and they contacted all those parties that were mentioned.
Dancehall artists Popcaan, Kranium and Jahmiel have also paid tribute to the 27-year-old artiste via their social platforms.
Mohbad is known for his popular hits such as 'Peace', 'Feel Good' and 'Ask About Me'.
