At one point during his long-awaited return to Canada, his first show there in over 20 years on Saturday night (Aug 23), Bounty Killer reflected on the moment. “How long Bounty Killer nuh touch deh soil ya? How long di genna nuh get the soil? It’s approximately 20 years, it’s plenty years,” he said, before igniting the crowd with “Spy Dem Fi Die.”
Canada’s long wait for the Dancehall's General finally ended, as over 15,000 fans packed the Markham Fairgrounds. Bounty told the audience he had been dreaming of this day for a long time, and their energy made it worth the wait.
For more than an hour, the Warlord delivered a powerhouse performance backed by a live band, running through an endless arsenal of hits. Songs like “Eagle And The Hawk,” “Look,” “Anytime,” and “Fed Up” had the crowd singing along word for word with pure enthusiasm.

During his set Bounty brought out fellow dancehall artists Cham and Dexta Daps, who had already performed their own sets earlier in the night. Together, they thrilled fans with the ladies’ favorite ballad “Slow Motion”, their third time performing it on stage, before Cham and Bounty linked up for collaborations from their Time Bomb EP.
Other guest appearances added to the night’s electricity. Dancehall artist Demarco, who surprised the audience while on his own Canadian tour, earned a massive forward for his 2014 hit “Good Book.” Bounty’s son Major Myjah also had his moment to shine, joined by the deejay’s protégé Wilful Skilful and former Alliance member Iyara.
Before Bounty’s headline set, Trinidadian soca star Mr. Killa set the tone with an energetic warm-up. Cham kept the momentum high with classics like “Ghetto Story” and “Vitamin C,” alongside fresh tracks from his latest album Sherlock. Then came Dexta Daps, the ladies’ favorite, who captivated with his sultry performance, highlighted by the viral single “One Favor.”
Oasis Festival organizers can mark this as a major success, with thousands singing and cheering throughout the night. For Bounty Killer, after previously selling out New York’s Barclays Center on his epic U.S. return, captivating Toronto is another testament to his enduring legacy.
