Quada turns a new page With “God Loves Me”
Long before his imprisonment, dancehall artiste Quada built a reputation for his powerful storytelling and thought-provoking lyrics. Now, following his release after a five-month incarceration, the deejay is channeling that experience into music with his new single, “God Loves Me,” produced by NSG Music Group.
Known for his lyrical depth, Quada puts his time behind bars into words on the reflective track. “We've always been working together. I've been recording and mixing projects for Quada since 2022. We have a lot of music together, but this is our first official release,” shared producer Mappy of NSG Music Group.
“After his release, I had the idea for this specific project based on the conversations we had while he was in jail. I wanted to create a foundation for him to express everything he'd been through since being locked up. I came up with the chorus and told him to build his verses around it, and he executed it perfectly.”
Mappy, born Matthew Wilson, also explained how the song came to life, revealing that the creative process unfolded in an unconventional way.
“It wasn't even recorded over a riddim at first—it was just the chords I played. He laid down the first verse, and by the time he came back the next day, I had built the riddim around what he'd recorded. He heard it and was immediately ready to record the second verse. From there, it was just adding the finishing touches, bringing in the background vocals, mixing the track, and getting everything ready for the video shoot.”
“‘God Loves Me’ was really the message he wanted to spread. He wanted positivity to be at the forefront because that's always been a big part of his music, and it came together exactly the way we intended,” The producer added.
Quada, whose given name is Shacquelle Clarke, has earned recognition as one of dancehall's most introspective lyricists, with standout songs including “Hail,” “Celebration,” and several others. With “God Loves Me,” he returns with a message of faith and positivity, and if the early reactions are any indication, the single has all the makings of another hit.
