Veteran Jamaican dancehall artiste Cutty Ranks joins forces with emerging acts Redeemm and Prince Andy for the new single “I’m Coming Home,” released on Wednesday, July 2. Marking Prince Andy’s first major release, the track bridges generations and cultures, with the Cuban-born artist, who has Ghanaian roots, bringing fresh energy alongside Cutty Ranks’ signature commanding style.
“I’m Coming Home' it's a dancehall rhythm that combines two languages, cultures, and countries (Cuba and Jamaica),” Andy said. “You can dedicate it to your loved one and dance to it with great energy.”
Inspired by a real-life story involving a woman whose beauty went beyond the physical, the song carries a heartfelt vibe, elevated by Andy’s collaboration with Cutty Ranks and Redeemm. “The experience was great,” he added. “The energy was high, and our voices blended perfectly.”
Though he didn’t grow up in a musical community, Andy says music was always present in his homeland, Cuba. Drawn to art from an early age, he developed a sharp musical ear and found inspiration in a wide range of artists from Clan 537 and Bob Marley to Wisin y Yandel, Crhis Brown, Eminem, and Linkin Park. “The traditions, culture, and values of my past have influenced my music and how I express myself,” he said. “With mixed roots, I express energies and vibes from nature, masculine power, discipline, and dedication. My lyrics are hot like the African climate, but I also highlight the beauty and appreciation of women, with a Latin Caribbean flavor in my dances, songs, and messages.”
Describing his sound as “a delicious mixed dish,” Andy blends reggae, reggaeton, hip hop, Afrobeat, salsa, trap, pop, and R&B. “It’s a freestyle without stereotypes, filled with good vibes and positive energy,” the singer elaborates. “I write my own lyrics, and my creative process is magical. Ideas come from real-life experiences. I compose every day, starting with a main idea, usually the chorus.”
Speaking on his origins, Prince Andy highlights the rich cultural blend that shapes his artistry. Originally from Cuba with African roots, he explained, “My ancestry is a mix of flavors from two cultures, African and Afro-Caribbean. Africa is at the forefront of my roots and blood. It’s influenced my musical tastes and expression. I enjoy rhythms with percussion instruments like drums.”
