Bob Marley & The Wailers’ timeless 1980 hit “Could You Be Loved” has added another certification to its growing list of global accolades, earning 9× Platinum status in New Zealand.

According to Recorded Music NZ, the certification represents at least 270,000 sales-equivalent units in the country.

The song originally appeared on the group’s 12th studio album, Uprising, and was later featured on the iconic greatest-hits collection Legend, as well as the Songs of Freedom box set released in 1992.

Earlier this year, “Could You Be Loved” was certified 3× Platinum in the United Kingdom, representing 1.8 million units, as measured by the Official Charts Company. The certification was awarded on May 1, 2026.

The global classic has also earned Platinum certifications in Denmark, Italy, Spain and Portugal, along with Gold certifications in Brazil and Germany, further highlighting its lasting international appeal more than four decades after its release.
