Jamaican musicians continue to rally in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, uniting their talents to support the island’s recovery. Nice Up Jamaica, a benefit concert set for December 16 at New York City’s Brooklyn Bowl, is bringing together some of reggae and dancehall’s most iconic figures.

Organized by Caribbean media platform LargeUp with the Brooklyn Bowl, the event will feature performances from dancehall pioneer Yellowman with his longtime Sagittarius Band, alongside roots reggae legend Johnny Osbourne, supported by saxophonist Anant Pradhan and percussionist Larry McDonald, who will also deliver a joint set of their own. Additional acts include Screechy Dan, Red Fox, and Yaadcore & Di Yaad Man Dem, all joining forces to uplift Jamaica during its time of rebuilding.

Additional DJs, including Max Glazer, Ayanna Heaven, and others along with LargeUp’s own DJ Gravy - will set the tone for the evening with carefully curated selections, while Nick Seale of New York’s Power 105.1 serves as MC.

“LargeUp is a unique platform celebrating Caribbean culture, with an intention to enhance people’s lives with a positive frequency,” said Dave (DJ Gravy) Susser, LargeUp co-founder. “With the island of Jamaica that we all love so dearly in desperate need, all of us who are inspired by it should do what we can to help.”

Proceeds and donations from Nice Up Jamaica will go directly toward four organizations at the forefront of recovery efforts, including American Friends of Jamaica, Rebuild Cockpit Country, World Central Kitchen, and the Ghetto Youths Foundation, supporting relief work across communities in western Jamaica.
