Yaksta teams up with Jahshii to spread positivity in new single ahead of his sophomore album slated for 2025: "The project will include surprise features from Reggae and Dancehall legends"
Yaksta and Jahshii drops some conscious music
Reggae and dancehall artiste Yaksta teams up with Jahshii for the release of their new single, "Gelato and Booze,"Â which debuted on Friday, December 20.
The track showcases the duo exchanging meaningful verses, emphasizing positivity and conscious themes. The song has gained significant traction on social media in recent weeks, bolstered by a viral video of the artistes in the studio recording the single, which was produced by Young G's Records.
"Consciousness shouldn’t be confined to a box because it’s not a product. We’re in a time when the frequency of music and the mindset of the people are low vibrational; hence, I have no choice but to adapt and improvise," explained Yaksta. "Jahshii is a youth of righteousness and the streets, as am I, representing my environment."
This marks the first collaboration between St. Mary native Yaksta (given name Kemaul Martin) and Jahshii. At the meantime, Yaksta is actively working on his sophomore album, set for release in 2025, following his debut '22'Â album from 2023.
"My album, Late Bloomer, will be the first of its kind—a hybrid EP-Yakbum consisting of two sides: 'Side A' (Dancehall), 'Side B' (Reggae), and a bonus featuring the full album along with three extra singles," the singer shared.
"In addition to completing a three-sided discography, the project will include surprise features from Reggae and Dancehall legends, as well as a carefully planned collaboration. Stay tuned—the flood is here, and you should be ready to be entertained!".
