The Jamaica Boxing Association (JBA), in partnership with Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum, officially launched the 2025 edition of Wray and Nephew Fight Nights on Tuesday, June 17, at Tracks and Records in Kingston.
The popular boxing series returns on Saturday, June 28, with a 10-bout card at Ferdie Neita Park in Portmore, St. Catherine. The lineup includes eight amateur fights and two professional showdowns, showcasing top boxing talent from Jamaica and the region.
In the professional segment, Juezier “Ironman” Heron will face Dwayne Lawrence in a Welterweight contest, while Jermaine Bowen takes on Steven Kirnon in a high-stakes Cruiserweight clash to close the night.
Amateur fighters from top local gyms like Suga Olympic, JDF, and GC Foster will compete, with the night opening on a high note as Cayman’s Briana Kerr faces JDF’s Kerryann Stephenson in a featured female bout.
Kerry Ann Bryan, Brand Manager at Wray & Nephew, spoke passionately about the brand’s legacy of support for boxing in Jamaica. “We are proud to be back, bolder, better, and more committed than ever to Jamaican boxing and the spirit of true competition. This series is more than a sporting event; it’s a platform for development, pride, and purpose. For over a decade, Wray & Nephew has made consistent investments in boxing. We view this not just as sponsorship, but as part of our role in nation-building through sport,” Bryan said.
Bryan also emphasised the alignment between Wray and Nephew’s mission and the vision of the JBA: “Our partnership with the boxing board is a meaningful one. We are united in the goal of seeing a local boxer qualify for the 2028 Olympics. This dream is rooted in discipline, ambition, and Jamaican excellence.”
“Through Wray & Nephew Fight Nights, we are creating a consistent and professional space for amateur and rising boxers. We are reigniting community pride by bringing these matches back to the people. And we are providing a true stepping stone, from grassroots to greatness,” she continued.
JBA President Stephen “Bomber” Jones expressed optimism about the series' evolution, highlighting the growth and lessons from 2023.
“Fight Nights is returning on a higher level. In 2023, we brought the sport to the public and toured the island. But we realised that, for the levels that we want to have, we needed to have more boxing. This is the premier platform for Jamaica’s top amateur boxers and rising pros to showcase their skills,” Jones stated.
"Through Wray & Nephew Fight Nights, we are creating a consistent and professional space for amateur and rising boxers."
It also makes it very, very crucial for the boxers to take part in all the shows coming up. This is the ultimate stage for them to be seen by scouts. Pretty much what we'll be seeing is the best that Jamaica has to offer at the finals. We're also going to use this platform to pick the better boxers that would represent us on the elite level,” he added.
The 2025 season of Wray & Nephew Fight Nights will run from June to October annually, with the events scheduled approximately every five weeks.
