Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel has officially signed rising Jamaican singer Shenequa to GreedyLion/Vybz Kartel Muzik, making her the first female artiste signed to the label.

Kaboom Magazine received footage from Konnect Media, which handles Shenequa’s public relations on behalf of Vybz Kartel, with the dancehall icon confirming the signing and teasing what lies ahead for his newest signee. The move marks a major milestone for the fast-rising Jamaican singer and songwriter as she continues to establish her presence in the Dancehall space.

“Shenequa is entering a new chapter. With the backing, visibility and creative energy, the team and I will be taking her career to another level, so stay tuned,” Kartel shared.

Shenequa, who recently released her latest single, “My Show,” described the signing as a major moment in her career. “It’s an amazing feeling to be signed by one of the world’s greats. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity, and it’s only up from here,” she shared.

With Kartel now teasing potential collaborations, the signing adds further momentum to Shenequa’s growing career.

For the young artiste, the opportunity is both surreal and motivating, but her focus remains on developing her own identity and sound. “Music, to me, is expressing how you feel on a beat. It’s never wrong or right. It’s an art, so just create your masterpiece and do it beautifully,” she explained.

Her growing catalogue includes “My Show” and “Emotionally Scarred,” showcasing an artiste committed to developing her sound while drawing inspiration from her own experiences.

That commitment is rooted in a philosophy she has carried with her since high school. “Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might. This is a quote I learnt in high school and currently live by. This is the approach I use towards my music, so every song I write or record is always my best. Eventually, you get better, and you just keep reaching for greatness.”

Shenequa is also determined to challenge perceptions surrounding how far female artistes in Reggae and Dancehall can go in the music industry. “I aim to change the perception that female Reggae/Dancehall artists are limited to a certain level of success in the music industry. And if there was ever any truth to that perception, we will change it. With God, all things are possible.”

“It’s an amazing feeling to be signed by one of the world’s greats. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity, and it’s only up from here.”

With the backing of GreedyLion/Vybz Kartel Muzik, new music already rolling out and potential collaborations with Kartel on the horizon, Shenequa is stepping into a new chapter with plenty more to come.
