Trinidadian multi-genre artist Jimmy October is enjoying the success of his latest single, “Bam Bam”, a sun-drenched, feel-good anthem that soaks listeners in pure island vibes.

Released on July 25 and produced by his longtime collaborator Brooklyn, the track fuses the spirit of soca with amapiano, afro-dancehall, and a touch of classic Trinbagonian calypso, resulting in an irresistible party-ready jam.

The single has quickly gained momentum, landing a mention on Billboard’s Reggae/Dancehall Fresh Picks for the month. Billboard described it as “a sweet ode to the ladies and their waistlines, incorporating elements of amapiano, dancehall, reggae, and calypso along the way.”

“It’s a blessing, man. It’s really surreal seeing my name on Billboard’s website,” the talented Trini artist shared with Kaboom Magazine. “When the article came out and I posted it, my mom sent me screenshots and told me how proud she was. Every time she says things like that, it means the world to me. It reminds me that she sees the effort I’m putting into this journey.

He further added. I’m just a piece of the puzzle here in Trinidad & Tobago. There are so many of us as artists really pushing the boundaries. blending genres, experimenting with sound—to show that we can create timeless, special music that resonates both at home and around the world.”

Producer Brooklyn Done Dem explained his vision for the track, saying, “My mindset for this project and really, for all the projects I work on, is about capturing something fresh and exciting for our music scene. I love working on music that blends global genres with Caribbean elements, because that’s the mission: putting the Caribbean on a global pedestal."

“Seeing the work on a platform like Billboard is really amazing and I’ll always be appreciative of that. It means we’re on the correct trajectory. I can’t wait to share more music with the world,” he added.

Born L’shun Emmanuel, the Trinidadian singer, songwriter, and national award recipient began his journey as a poet and rapper, sharing stages with J. Cole, Major Lazer, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and local soca legend Machel Montano. His artistry was spotlighted in FADER Magazine in 2018, which called him “Trinidad’s newest musical innovator,” and Complex named him among the “10 Artists to Watch from Trinidad and Tobago” in 2019.

"When the article came out and I posted it, my mom sent me screenshots and told me how proud she was. Every time she says things like that, it means the world to me".
