Portmore-based distribution company Sunshine Snacks Jamaica has reinforced its commitment to youth football development and community initiatives with a combined J$2 million investment in the youth programmes of Waterhouse Football Club and Montego Bay United Football Club.

The company recently held an official sponsorship handover ceremony for Waterhouse FC, marking another step in its efforts to support grassroots football across Jamaica.

Sunshine Snacks Brand Manager Danielle Howe said the decision to support Montego Bay United’s youth programme was a natural extension of the company’s existing partnership with the club at the senior level. “We were particularly impressed by the structure and depth of the club’s youth development programme, which introduces children to football from as early as four years old and provides a clear pathway for their continued development,” Howe explained.

She highlighted the programme’s international connections, which provide promising young players with opportunities to gain exposure and experience beyond Jamaica.

“Supporting the youth programme therefore allows us to strengthen an existing partnership while investing at the earliest stages of player development,” she added.

Turning to Waterhouse FC, Howe said the partnership allows Sunshine Snacks to expand its investment in youth football into Kingston while supporting a club with a strong tradition in Jamaica’s top-flight competition.

“The programme also creates opportunities for young players to gain broader exposure through relationships with international football clubs, giving promising talent access to experiences and opportunities beyond the local game.”

“We wanted to partner with an established programme that is actively developing young talent within this area of the island. Supporting Waterhouse allows Sunshine Snacks to contribute to that development at the community level while complementing our investment in Montego Bay and our wider involvement in Jamaican football.”

According to Howe, the two partnerships reflect Sunshine Snacks’ broader commitment to developing Jamaican football, from grassroots programmes to the national stage.

“Together, the two partnerships allow Sunshine Snacks to support youth football development across different areas of the island while working with clubs that have established programmes, strong football traditions and clear pathways for young players,” she said.
