Skeng to headline debut show in Costa Rica with Ding Dong
The Latin American market has emerged as a growing hotspot for dancehall, with consistent demand for performances by Jamaican stars. Skeng and Ding Dong are slated to perform on May 31 in San José, Costa Rica, at the birthday celebration of New York-based Costa Rican promoter Eddie O.
Skeng, continuing to expand his international reach, will be making his Costa Rica debut, while veteran deejay Ding Dong, fresh off the release of his debut album, is known worldwide for his electrifying dancehall performances.
The event will be hosted by Shenseea's manager, Dizzy Cleanface, who also shares Costa Rican roots, under his We Good brand, alongside Marcus Platinum Kids from New York.
Over the years, Costa Rica has developed a strong connection to dancehall, with the genre flourishing alongside reggaeton in the streets. Artists like Shenseea, Skillibeng, and Teejay—alongside veterans such as Beenie Man and Charly Black—have all delivered well-received performances in the country.
Dancehall heavyweight Aidonia is set to bring his 20th anniversary celebration to Costa Rica this October, following successful shows in New York and Jamaica. Meanwhile, dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel is also expected to perform in the country soon, with a new date to be announced following a previously postponed show.
