Mr. Eazi Previews New Mixtape with New Dancehall-Driven Single “Dance Pon Me”

Mr. Eazi teams up with Dre Skull and Cadenza for “Dance Pon Me,” the first single from forthcoming Mixpak mixtape

Nigerian singer and songwriter Mr. Eazi previews his forthcoming Mixpak Records mixtape with the hard-hitting club banger “Dance Pon Me.” The track, released on December 5, has already accumulated over 3 million views in just 10 days.

The dancehall-driven track is produced by Dre Skull alongside Cadenza (Jorja Smith, Beyoncé, and Doja Cat) and marks Mr. Eazi’s second collaboration with the Billboard-charting, Grammy-nominated producer.

“I’ve known Dre Skull for a long time, and I’m a dancehall head. We worked together on a track with Popcaan called Sekkle & Bop, and we had always had this idea to put together a whole mixtape of sounds that explored the connection between West African music and Jamaican music. Dance Pon Me is the introduction to the mixtape coming next year,” said Mr. Eazi, while describing the musical chemistry working with Dre Skull.

“We are creatively very in tune and it’s a very collaborative process where we share ideas and have fun. The inspiration for Dance Pon Me is classic dancehall. We wanted a song to make people dance, the old school way.”

Brooklyn-based producer Dre Skull, founder of Mixpak Records, produced Popcaan’s debut album Where We Come From and its follow-up Forever, both of which landed on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. He also produced Vybz Kartel’s Billboard-charting album Kingston Story.

Most recently, Dre Skull earned a Grammy nomination for his work with Burna Boy and is widely recognized for collaborations with global acts including PartyNextDoor and Wizkid, among others.

Mr. Eazi, a multi-nominated and multi-platinum-selling artiste, has scored multiple entries on the British and European charts. He has collaborated with Konshens, Nicki Minaj, Major Lazer, Davido and Bad Bunny among several other acts.

Cadenza is one of the industry’s most in-demand producers, recently co-producing and co-writing “YA YA” on Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER. His résumé includes two Grammy wins and five nominations, with standout contributions to Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE and Lucky Daye’s Table For Two. UK-born with deep roots in dancehall and club music, he has released solo work on labels such as Mixpak, Fool’s Gold, and Mad Decent, and has toured globally with Major Lazer.
