Massive reggae support rolled out on Friday night as recording artist Royal Blu hosted an exclusive listening session for his long-awaited debut album, "Spain Root".

Held at the iconic Harry J Recording Studio, the three-hour event offered a blend of music, meaning, and mastery. Reggae heavyweights such as Protoje, Grammy winner Kabaka Pyramid, Dyani, and Runkus, who also contributed as a producer, were among those in attendance.

"Spain Root" is a powerful statement of identity. From tales of love and resilience to moments of upliftment and spiritual clarity, the album begins with a heartfelt invocation on the title track, featuring a moving prayer from Royal Blu’s mother, Eileen Francis. Her voice continues to guide the project, grounding each song in purpose. Recorded entirely at Harry J, Spain Root unfolds like a personal and communal journey through Royal Blu’s world.

The project is sonically rich and lyrically profound, featuring powerful collaborations with reggae star Protoje on “Life From Kingston,” Kabaka Pyramid on “Light My Way,” Dyani on “Arms,” and the soulful rising singer Akina Eman on “Forever for Now.”

Spain Root is executive produced by GWav and Royal Blu—whose given name is Sean-Michael Francis—alongside respected producers Kerron “KaleX” Alexander, Aundre “RiddimBoss” Edwards, and Romario “Runkus” Bennett.

“This album is my love letter to where I’m from, to the roots that shaped me,” shared Royal Blu. “To bring it to life in a space like Harry J, with the people who’ve supported me on this path, is a full-circle blessing. I’m just grateful and elated for everyone to hear it.”
