Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey is set to make his return to the Reggae Boyz squad ahead of the Concacaf Nations League fixtures against Cuba and Honduras, having been named in new head coach Steve McClaren’s squad.
The 27-year-old hasn't played for the senior men's national team since November 2023 due to a suspension from Jamaican Football Federation and former head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson and a self-imposed break, during which he declined a call-up for this summer's Copa America.
New coach Steve McClaren emphasized Bailey's importance, stating, "How you play for Aston Villa is how you should play for Jamaica."
Eighteen players from the Copa America squad have returned, with Luton's Amari’i Bell, Norman Campbell, Jon Russell, and Adrian Reid Jr. also making the 23-man roster. The squad is expected to arrive on the island next week ahead of their match against Cuba at the National Stadium on Friday, September 7. "Midfield is an area we continue to evaluate," McClaren noted ahead of his debut. They will then face Honduras on the 11th.
