The legendary Jamaican reggae singer, Colvin "Cocoa Tea" Scott, passed away on March 11, 2025, at the age of 65 at a hospital in Broward, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, following a cardiac arrest

The legendary reggae artist, Cocoa Tea, has passed away following an extended battle with cancer at a Miami, Florida hospital.


The singer was diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of cancer affecting the lymphatic system, in 2019, which led to his prolonged absence from the stage. Although his family had previously denied rumors of his passing, he sadly passed away tonight.



Born as Colvin Scott in Clarendon Parish, Jamaica, Cocoa Tea launched his career in the mid-80s, achieving breakthrough success in the 90s. His repertoire includes iconic hits like 'Holy Mount Zion,' 'Rikers Island,' 'Young Lover,' and many others.


Having collaborated with renowned labels such as VP Records and Greensleeves Records, Cocoa Tea released numerous albums throughout his illustrious career.



His contributions to reggae music have left an indelible mark, and he will be remembered for his dedication to the art form and his uplifting messages. Cocoa Tea is survived by his wife, Malvia, and eight children
