It was their first matchup since the 2024 Paris Olympic 100m final. Jamaican Olympic silver medalist Kishane Thompson edged Olympic champion Noah Lyles in the men’s 100m at the Silesia Diamond League, equaling the meet record of 9.87s. Lyles clocked a season-best 9.90s for second place, while Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake finished 8th in 10.11s.
Five-time Olympic sprint medalist Shericka Jackson claimed victory in the women’s 200m, clocking 22.17s. She held off a strong challenge from American Brittany Brown (22.21) and Nigeria’s Favour Ofili (22.25), who finished second and third, respectively.
In the women’s 100m hurdles, world champion Danielle Williams ran a personal best of 12.31s to place 4th. American Olympic champion Masai Russell won with an outstanding Diamond League record of 12.19s, ahead of compatriot Tonea Marshall in 12.24s. Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent placed 6th in 12.43s, with Megan Tapper 8th in 12.66s.
In the women’s 100m, American Melissa Jefferson-Wooden ran a blistering 10.66s (0.1) to secure victory. Jamaica’s Tia Clayton, returning from injury, set a new personal best of 10.82s for second place. Ivorian star Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith followed in 10.87s, while her twin sister Tina Clayton finished 4th in 10.91s. Olympic champion Sha’Carri Richardson placed 6th in 11.05s.
