Recording artiste Kevin Downswell has released his uplifting new single "Higher (From The Fire)," which premiered on radio on July 10 ahead of its official release on July 20.
The Afro-soca-inspired track, driven by booming drums, soaring horns, and powerful backing vocals, will also be performed live during his pre-album launch concert on July 19 as the lead-up to his Summer 2026 album.
Built around the chorus, "Look how You're taking me higher, higher, higher, look how You're making me better from the fire," the song delivers a message of triumph, portraying life's trials as moments of refinement rather than defeat. Written from personal testimony, it reflects on overcoming hardship through faith and transformation.
“The fire wasn’t sent to destroy you - it was sent to take you higher. I can’t wait for people to experience it live for the first time”
“This single is deeply personal to me. Higher (From The Fire) is my testimony, but it’s also the testimony of every believer. The fire wasn’t sent to destroy you - it was sent to take you higher. I can’t wait for people to experience it live for the first time at our pre-album launch, and then have it available wherever they listen to music the very next day,” Downswell said.
Downswell has previously released six albums, including Grace Brought Me Here (2023), The Shift (2023), Realignment – The Live Encounter (2018), All the Way (2017), The Search Continues (2012), and Close to You (2008). Earlier this year, he released "Steady" on the WYFL Riddim, with "Higher (From The Fire)" serving as the latest preview of his upcoming seventh album.
