Recording artiste Nhance kicks off new season of Jussbuss Acoustic
From reggae to dancehall, Jussbuss Acoustic has long served as a premium platform showcasing Jamaica’s finest musical talent through intimate acoustic sessions and exclusive performances.
Over the years, the platform has built a strong reputation, working with some of the biggest names in the industry. With its return for a new season, the Johnathan Newman and Pierce Mclean of the team opens up about the vision, evolution, and global impact of the brand.
Jussbuss has built a reputation working with some of the biggest names - what sparked the decision to return for a new season now?
“We decided to return for a new season for one main reason - demand. There’s a lot of musical talent in Jamaica that need a premium platform like ours to showcase their craft to the world. So after more than a decade of building a globally recognized platform, the decision to return wasn’t just about another season - it was about the evolution of the platform as well.”
They outlined the next phase of the platform, “This year, Jussbuss Acoustic is moving away from our traditional seasonal format to a year-round presence, so we can showcase more artists on a consistent basis - something our viewers have been requesting for quite some time,” they added.
Your platform is known for bridging the gap between emerging and established acts. How important is that balance in today’s dancehall space?
“That balance is central to what Jussbuss Acoustic represents. The platform has always featured major names alongside rising talent, which helps elevate new artists while maintaining credibility with established audiences. In today’s dancehall space, where discovery happens quickly online, this mix creates a kind of pipeline — fans come for the icons but stay and discover the next generation of talent.”
Are we going to see more raw, unfiltered moments this season, or a more polished production?
“It is both, by design. Jussbuss continues to focus on raw, acoustic performances that highlight true artistry, but that authenticity is paired with high-quality visuals, studio-grade audio, and curated locations. The goal is to keep the performances organic and intimate, while still delivering a premium viewing experience.”
In your opinion, where does dancehall content currently sit on the global stage?
“Currently, dancehall content is in a strong global position. With the return of Vybz Kartel in 2024 and the seemingly limitless amount of talented new artists coming up year after year, the demand for our culture worldwide is as high as it’s ever been, and we just want to play our part in bringing our culture to the world.”
Jussbuss also revealed a new initiative, adding: “It’s why we at Jussbuss have produced a whole other show called ‘Jussbuss Weh Yuh Know Bout Dancehall?’ — a dancehall trivia game show hosted by Deno Crazy, where everyday people get a chance to test their knowledge for a chance to win money. The show is about to go into its second season.”
Beyond this season, what’s the bigger vision for the Jussbuss platform?
“The bigger vision for the Jussbuss platform is to deliver more celebrity-based entertainment for our audience. We’ve got a few new shows in development that we’re aiming to roll out later this year. We’ve also stepped into music production through our new label, Catalog Music Group, in partnership with Dethwlrd Records and Birds Eye View Media - so you can expect new music coming from us soon. Long term, it’s about growing our platform into a global ecosystem that consistently amplifies Caribbean talent and culture.”
Over the years, Jussbuss has hosted sessions with dancehall and reggae stars like Beenie Man, Dexta Daps, Romain Virgo, Protoje, Jah Vinci, Jesse Royal, and many more. The new season opens with an acoustic set by Nhance.
