International author and actress Jenelle Alexia celebrated Read Across Jamaica Day with visits to Eltham, George Headley, and Ensom City primary schools, introduced by Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Hon. Olivia “Babsy” Grange.
At Ensom City Primary, Minister Grange made a heartfelt introduction and encouraged students to engage with Jenelle’s book, “Keira and Jaime Discover a Musical Dream.” In a beautiful moment of shared learning, students were invited to read parts of the book aloud before Jenelle joined with Shauna Fung Yee for a full reading session. The interactive presentation brought the story to life, inspiring the students to embrace literacy and the power of their own voices.
“This was more than just a reading—it was a celebration of Jamaican culture, imagination, and youth empowerment,” said Jenelle Alexia. “Having Minister Grange introduce me, and then watching the students read my words with pride, is a moment I’ll never forget.”
Previously landing in the Apple Books Kids Top 10, Jenelle’s Keira series continues to inspire children globally. Her Jamaica visits are part of a Caribbean school tour promoting reading, creativity, and positive identity.
