Filmmaker Jamar Cleary’s acclaimed documentary Raizal: The Jamaican–San Andrés Connection continues its global run, with an upcoming screening at the prestigious GATFFEST Film Festival on June 7, 2025, at the Palace Cineplex, Sovereign Centre in Kingston.

The screening is part of the festival’s Jamaican Film Night and highlights the film’s compelling exploration of the cultural and historical ties between the Raizal people of San Andrés, Colombia, and Jamaica.

"I’m thrilled to bring Raizal: The Jamaican-San Andrés Connection to GATFFEST, especially as it focuses on such a rich cultural heritage and the often-overlooked history of the Raizal people," says Cleary. "This is a chance to further connect with local audiences and share a story that truly highlights the importance of cultural preservation and understanding."

Following the screening, the audience will have the opportunity to engage with Cleary during a Q&A session, where he will discuss the creative process and the significance of the film in amplifying underrepresented voices from the Caribbean-Latin American diaspora.
