Reggae singer Jah Lil teams up with rising reggae sensation Tanzie on “Poverty,” the first single from his forthcoming sophomore album, set for release later this summer.
Produced by Cloud Beats, the track shines a light on the daily struggles faced by many Jamaicans, capturing themes of hardship, resilience, and social awareness. Serving as the album’s lead single, “Poverty” sets the tone for the project, with Jah Lil delivering a direct message to the nation, saying, “We tired ah poverty. Wake up, Jamaica.”
Tanzie, the daughter of reggae veterans Tony Rebel and Queen Ifrica, continues to make her mark on the local reggae scene. Known for her distinctive voice and conscious lyricism, she has been steadily building momentum as one of reggae’s most promising young voices, earning recognition for music rooted in depth, purpose, and cultural awareness.
The upcoming album follows Jah Lil’s 2025 Dusty Park Lane 3-track EP, which included “One Gift,” later remixed with Jahmiel, as well as his 2024 debut album Can a Man Cry. Like his previous releases, the new project will be distributed by UK-based label Out Deh Records, where Jah Lil is currently signed.
