Dancehall star Govana delivered a show-stopping performance in a white pilot suit during his set on Night One of Reggae Sumfest 2025, which featured a deeply emotional, tearful tribute to his mother.

The impressive set was packed with hits from start to finish, with Govana commanding the prime-time slot. Before launching into his 2018 anthem “Champ,” he brought his mother, Sonia Eccleston, on stage. While performing his hit single “Four Storey,” he surprised her with the keys to a brand-new Honda CR-V, a heartfelt gesture that brought her to tears and left the audience in awe.

His mother responded saying, “Mi raise yuh good!” as they embraced on stage. Just when she thought the sentimental moment had ended, the big screen lit up with a graphic that read, “Never failed the mission, Mommy.”

His set was a reflection of his journey to the pinnacle of dancehall, as he commanded the stage with a compelling performance packed with hits that traced his steady rise over the past decade, from his early days with the 4th Genna camp to becoming one of the genre’s leading voices. The solid half-hour run featured crowd favorites for the ladies like “Bake Bean,” the humorous “Hamants Convo,” as well as standout tracks such as “Hot Topic” and “Gyal Clown,” among others.
