Golden Finish for Shanoya Douglas as Jamaica Wins World U20 4x100m

Jamaica’s women’s 4x100m relay team, led by Shanoya Douglas, struck gold at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships on Sunday (August 9), powering to the world title in a world U20-leading 42.89 seconds at Hayward Field.

The quartet of Sashana Johnson, Thieanna-Lee Terrelonge, Natrece East and Douglas delivered another major sprint triumph for Jamaica, wearing the green and gold proudly on the world stage.

For Douglas, it was a golden ending to an impressive championship. After earning silver medals in both the 100m and 200m, the Jamaican sprinter finally reached the top of the podium, securing her third medal of the competition.

“It meant a lot for us,” an excited Douglas said. “We wanted the gold to go home. We wanted it to be four-in-a-row where Jamaica had gotten gold in this championship.”

A false start eliminated Nigeria from contention, while costly exchanges hurt several of Jamaica’s other rivals. Switzerland capitalised to take silver in 43.36 seconds, while Belgium produced a surprise run to secure bronze in 43.91.
