The A’Legends Helping Hands Foundation, founded by award-winning author, actress, entrepreneur and cultural ambassador Jenelle Alexia, has continued its mission of compassion and community upliftment by coordinating direct relief efforts for families affected by Hurricane Melissa across Jamaica.

Through a united response driven by partnership and purpose, the foundation mobilized donation drop-off sites, volunteers, and community supporters to gather critical supplies including food items, toiletries, baby essentials, linens, first-aid materials, and household necessities.

The initiative was further strengthened by the generosity and collaboration of key partners who played an integral role in the successful delivery of aid. Among them was Garel McKen, owner of Port Royal Cuisine, whose support underscored a strong show of solidarity with the Jamaican community during this time of urgent need.

"We are deeply grateful to every partner and supporter who helped ensure these families received essential care during a difficult time. The work continues, and we remain committed to uplifting communities at home and across the diaspora"

Also instrumental was Shana Davis, owner of Shana Caribbean Café, who opened her doors as an accessible donation hub and contributed both time and resources to the foundation’s relief mission.

Ishana Closet, whose owner not only donated a significant amount of essential items but also selflessly dedicated her time to sorting, organizing, and preparing relief supplies for shipment, as well as veteran recording artist Guidance, who personally showed up to assist with organizing donations and supporting the relief efforts on-site.

Among the other invaluable contributions were those from Rediscover Africa Org, a nonprofit operating in New Jersey, USA, and Ghana, West Africa. Additional support came from the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce, which partnered with the Jamaican Consulate of Philadelphia, led by Christopher Chaplin, to amplify community outreach and expand the distribution of aid across affected areas.

“This relief drive was not just about responding to a storm it was about showing up for our people with love, dignity, and community,” said Jenelle Alexia. “We are deeply grateful to every partner and supporter who helped ensure these families received essential care during a difficult time. The work continues, and we remain committed to uplifting communities at home and across the diaspora.”

The A’Legends Helping Hands Foundation has a consistent history of service, including feeding over 100 individuals on Thanksgiving, supporting schools and youth programs, sponsoring children, and providing resources to families facing hardship.
