Damian Marley’s “Welcome To Jamrock” Certified Platinum in the UK

Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley’s 2005 classic “Welcome to Jamrock” goes platinum in the UK, equivalent to 600,000 units, marking his second UK certification in two weeks.

Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley’s classic anthem “Welcome To Jamrock” has officially been certified Platinum in the UK by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry), commemorating sales and streaming equivalent of 600,000 units as of Friday.

The track had previously earned a Gold certification in Brazil for 40,000 units, and in the UK where it now advances from Gold to Platinum status.

Released in March 2005 via Ghetto Youths/Universal Records, Welcome To Jamrock is the title track from Marley’s Grammy Award-winning album, which took home the Best Reggae Album at the 48th Grammy Awards in 2006.

This marks the second consecutive week Marley has received a BPI certification in the UK. Just last week, his collaboration with Skrillex, “Make It Bun Dem,” was certified Gold for 400,000 units, with the certification issued on September 26.
