With dancehall album sales continuing to decline, 450's “Pieces of Me” leads the pack with 996 first-week sales, while Vybz Kartel’s “Viking (Vybz Is King) Deluxe” follows closely with 980 units, according to the entertainment industry’s preeminent data authority, Luminate

Dancehall albums have seen a significant decline in sales across 2025, yet 450 still managed to lead the pack. According to data from Luminate, the entertainment industry’s preeminent data authority, his debut album “Pieces of Me” recorded the biggest first-week numbers, selling 996 units - the highest total for any dancehall project this year.

Following closely, Vybz Kartel’s “Viking (Vybz Is King) Deluxe” with 980 units, while Squash’s “Hate Being Famous” earned 600, Ding Dong’s “From Ding Dong to the World Ding” reached 283, and Valiant’s debut “Prove Them Wrong” secured 288.

The figures reflect the ongoing decline in pure album sales as streaming continues to dominate music consumption. Where artists once sold thousands of CD copies in their first week, today’s success is defined by digital reach, playlist placements, and streaming visibility, marking a major transformation in how audiences engage with dancehall music.

Still, “Pieces of Me” had a strong digital debut, quickly climbing multiple iTunes charts across the Caribbean and landing on the iTunes Reggae Songs chart in the U.S. Notably, only U.S.-based views and streams are counted by Billboard, which is an American-based platform.

Billboard recently renewed its call for the Recording Academy to split the category into two - Best Reggae Album and Best Dancehall Album - a move that would give more projects within the genre the recognition they deserve.

450, who recently surpassed 50 million YouTube views with his 2023 hit “Wild N Rich,” is also closing in on another milestone with his breakout single “Journey,” currently has amassed over 49 million views.
