Dancehall star Chronic Law steps back into the spotlight with new single “Step Out,” jumping on DropTop’s HLO Riddim with his signature intensity and lyrical sharpness.

On the track, the self-styled “dancehall therapist” delivers a gritty yet reflective performance, spitting, “mi just step out a ICE, chain mek out a ice, humbleness over hype,” reinforcing themes of gratitude, resilience, and staying grounded despite adversity.

No strangers to collaboration, Chronic Law and DropTop had already teased a piece of the video, which was shot while both were in Florida.

The release adds further momentum to the HLO Riddim - a growing project from the Jamaican US-based producer - which already features a Vybz Kartel track, “Hype Life,” that has surpassed 1.4 million views.

The riddim is built by Basbeats, whose production credits include work with Nicki Minaj, Skillibeng, and more, alongside @2bough.

Jamaican-born artist Sahir Cashii continues to showcase his unique sound with a string of new releases.
On “Need You” he taps into a more sensual mood, pairing introspective themes with a slow and intimate guitar ballad. The multi-versatile singer, rapper, and producer made his return last year with Lethal Elegance, a 5-track EP blending Dancehall, Hip Hop, and Afropop, before following up with Regally Elegant.

Jamaica’s Jamaica national football team saw their hopes of a return to the FIFA World Cup come to an end after a 1-0 extra-time defeat, extending their 28-year drought since their only appearance at France 1998.

After a goalless 90 minutes, Axel Tuanzebe found the net from inside the box in the 100th minute to break Jamaican hearts and decide the contest.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo created the more threatening chances in the second half, but Jamaica, thanks in large part to goalkeeper Andre Blake held firm to keep the intercontinental playoff final scoreless through regulation before being undone in extra time.

Japanese dancehall producer Gacha Medz continues to expand his footprint in the genre, contributing to Alkaline’s NPT album while reflecting on a journey that spans nearly two decades in Jamaica.

In an exclusive with Kaboom Magazine, he shared how the experience has shaped him both musically and personally. “Jamaica has truly taught me patience more than anything… being in Kingston keeps me constantly inspired - especially by the new wave of dancehall,” he said, adding that working with Alkaline stands out as a creative process where “he’s actively involved in shaping the direction of the song, almost like he’s co-producing in his own way.”

Throughout his journey, Gacha Medz has also learned from some of the genre’s leading figures, including Vybz Kartel, gaining insight beyond just music.

“A lot of the top producers have already established themselves not only as artists, but also as strong businessmen… it’s not just about making hits,” he noted.

Now positioned between both cultures, he continues to play a role in strengthening the link between Japan and Jamaica. “I feel like the connection between dancehall and Japan is moving beyond just music… I’ve been able to become a bridge between the Jamaican and Japanese music scenes.”

Reflecting on both his creative approach and the Rockers legacy, he added, "I’m mainly focused on building and maintaining my business at the moment, being located at 135 Orange Street, Rockers International Records, which was started by my dad around 1976, so we recently celebrated our 50th anniversary, which has taken most of my time and energy."

Jamaican reggae singer Naomi Cowan’s 12-track debut album Welcome to Paradise has won the 2026 JUNO Award for Reggae Recording of the Year.

The award was presented to Cowan on Saturday at the 50th staging of the ceremony.

“Man, I feel so proud to be a woman in reggae music. This award has been around since 1985, the Reggae Recording of the Year category, and I am the 10th woman out of the 40 times this award has been handed out to receive it. That is incredible," Cowan told Kaboom Magazine.

She continued, "More than anything, it reminds me to stay in my lane and remain true to my authenticity as an artist, because that’s clearly the way to go. I’ve stayed true to who I believe I am, and it’s proving to be the right thing to do.”

This marks the 10th time a female has won the Reggae Recording of the Year category.

Grammy-award winning artiste #SeanPaul turned his appearance on NBC’s Today Show into a meaningful moment for Lewisville High School in St. Elizabeth, surprising the institution with a donation of musical instruments aimed at rebuilding its programme following Hurricane Melissa.

The gesture forms part of the ongoing work of the Sean Paul Foundation, which has supported over 40 communities with relief efforts, including food packages and essential supplies to help families recover.

“There were several schools in our journey, but what struck me about Lewisville High School was their music programme. Their music room, which was one of the biggest I’ve seen at a school, was completely destroyed in the passing of the hurricane,” Sean Paul said in the interview.

Principal Rosemarie Thompson Collins, who is also appeared on the Today Show, expressed gratitude for the support, sharing, “The plan is to now use music to escape the trauma, and I know our students -.particularly those who are into music - will truly appreciate it.”

Sean Paul’s 2006 hit “(When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me,” featuring American singer Keyshia Cole, has been certified Gold in the UK for 400,000 units by the British Phonographic Industry on Friday, March 27 - marking his second Gold certification in a day, following its New Zealand milestone (15,000 units) on Thursday, March 26.

The track adds to its global certifications, including Gold from the Recording Industry Association of America (500,000 units), Platinum in Canada (40,000 units), and over 100,000 streaming units in Greece.

The single was produced by Donovan "Don Corleone" Bennett and later released with Keyshia Cole to align with its inclusion on the soundtrack for the 2006 film Step Up.

The track adds to an impressive list of global certifications, including Gold certification from the RIAA (500,000 units in the United States), Silver status in the UK (200,000 units), Platinum certification in Canada (40,000 units), and Gold status in Greece, where it has surpassed 1,000,000 streaming units.

Distributed by Atlantic Records, the single has amassed over 438 million views on YouTube to date, alongside more than 350 million streams on Spotify.
